DOT Cost Estimator
Position: DOT Cost Estimator – Heavy Highway & Bridge Projects
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Great Falls, VA (Telework eligible)

Description:
Trusted Structures LLC is seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to lead estimating and bidding efforts for projects across DOT, state, and federal infrastructure scopes. This role is essential to ensuring accurate cost projections, bid package preparations and submittal.
You’ll work closely with our field foremen and executive team to build competitively priced and accurate bid packages on select Prime and Subcontract project opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
-
Develop detailed cost estimates for scopes including:
-
Bridge construction and phased rehabilitation
-
Concrete deck overlays, spall repairs, and parapet reconstruction
-
Structural concrete and reinforcing steel installation
-
Joint, bearing, and expansion system replacement
-
Retaining walls, sound walls, and MSE wall construction
-
Bridge drainage and incidental concrete structures
-
Selective demolition of bridge components
-
-
Prepare and submit bid packages
-
Familiar with VDOT CABB, PennDOT ECMS, Bid Express and SAM.gov (Federal)

Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
-
Coordinate bid strategy, value engineering, and subcontractor pricing
Qualifications
-
5+ years in DOT cost estimating, bid package, and submittal, with Federal cost estimating a plus
-
Experience submitting bids to Federal Agencies, VDOT, and PennDOT
-
Strong understanding of DOT specifications, unit pricing, and concrete scope estimating
-
Hands-on experience with bridge repairs, including joint systems and epoxy injection methods

Proficiency in estimating software

Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills

Bridge Carpenter
Position: Bridge Carpenter – Heavy Highway & Bridge Projects
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Great Falls, VA (Virginia and Pennsylvania travel required)

Description:
Trusted Structures LLC is seeking an experienced Bridge Carpenter to support bridge construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects across DOT, state, and federal infrastructure programs. Project-based assignments depending on workload, with full-time hours during active bridge operations
This position plays a critical field role supporting foremen and superintendents in executing safe, high-quality bridge carpentry work including formwork, falsework, and structural concrete operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working under DOT specifications on active traffic and phased construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
Bridge Carpentry & Field Operations
Perform carpentry work on DOT bridge projects including:

Formwork and falsework for decks, barriers, parapets, and caps
-
Timber and steel form systems
-
Overhang brackets and deck overhang form installation
-
Pour sequencing support and concrete placement preparation
-
Removal and replacement of formwork for phased deck pours
-
Installation of bridge pedestrian rail, temporary rail, and protection systems
-
Assisting with joint replacement and structural concrete repairs
-
Support selective demolition of bridge components
Jobsite Coordination & Safety
-
Work closely with foremen to execute daily work plans
-
Comply with VDOT, PennDOT, and Federal safety standards
-
Follow all site-specific traffic control and work zone requirements
-
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas
-
Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and layout marks
Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience as a carpenter on DOT bridge or heavy civil projects
-
Proven experience building and stripping bridge formwork
-
Familiarity with DOT specifications and inspection requirements
-
Ability to work at heights, over water, and around traffic
-
Experience with concrete placement support and finishing crews preferred
-
OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 a plus)

Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends when required
